Enter a fantastic world featuring humans, shape-shifting volkens, and mysterious fae. Nothing is quite as it seems in the magical world of Nothing. Strange things are happening to Nathan. After a chance meeting with a mysterious new friend, Haven, the duo must avoid a pair of volken mercenaries, uncover a mystery regarding a historic hero, and travel through Nothing to stop an impending war.
An epic start to a series with many fantastical and humorous elements. Featuring a secret quest, a hidden mystery, fantastic magic, and plenty of puns. The story touches on some hard issues such as loss of loved ones and rejection by family members along with some sweet elements of friendship, forgiveness, and doing the right thing.
The backmatter contains a little insight into developing the world of Nothing, the creative process, and early character designs.
I really enjoyed the world Green and Rodriguez have created. And after that last scene, I will definitely be checking out the second book.
