While I love the Heartstopper series, I wasn’t sure a companion art book would live up to it content-wise. I’m so glad I was wrong. I enjoyed this more than I initially thought I would.

The book contains profiles of the characters, family trees, mini-comics, and themed artwork for different holidays and seasons. My favorite part was learning more about how Heartstopper came to be. Oseman goes through the different iterations of the story and the characters from 2013 to 2022. This includes initial sketches, re-drawings, and changing character designs. It was really cool to see the ways her art style changed over time.

A really fun read. While some of the drawings have been posted online, it was nice to have them all in one place with some context and explanations. There is also brand-new content including a mini-comic about Darcy and Tara’s origin and tutorials on how to draw the Heartstopper characters.

Loved seeing and learning about the world of Heartstopper (and the Osemanverse in general) in full color. A beautiful book that celebrates love, friendship, and the joy of the creative process.
