Cinnamon has a quiet life on her family’s spice farm. But when a hot demon shows up and reveals a sinister plot, Cin is forced on a quest to take down an evil witch, putting her in close proximity to said demon and making her life anything but quiet.

Fun humor and all sorts of surprises along the way. I can definitely see why this is so popular.

I enjoyed the humor in this fantasy. The modern slang and healthy dose of cursing add to the absurdity in a good way. It’s a magical adventure that doesn’t take itself too seriously and I can definitely get behind that. I absolutely loved Cin’s character. I want to see more bold, confident women, especially women of color, in fantasy adventures.

Despite the humor and magical elements, the book as a whole just didn’t work for me. This is my first venture into dubcon and I have now learned it’s not my cup of tea. Glad there is a content warning in the republished version.

Personally, I couldn’t get into the writing of this book. There were clunky sections and too much telling, which kept pulling me out of the story.

I’m not much of a romance reader, but I’m glad I gave this one a try. On the whole, it just wasn’t for me. Okay writing. Fairly fast-paced plot. Lots of spice.
