I loved this series as a kid and wanted to give it a reread after finishing the graphic novel adaption. In this one, Amber is upset that her best friend, Justin, is moving away. Every time she tries to talk to him about it, he acts like nothing is changing.
Well-written. I still love Amber’s personality after all these years. The book holds up pretty well, though there is plenty of 90s-style name-calling. Quentin Blake-style illustrations help break up the text.
Balances tough topics with humor. Touches on divorce, moving, and fights with friends. I loved the emphasis on communication and that Amber is able to get support from adults while still solving her own problems.
Definitely still enjoyed this book as an adult and its advice holds up well.
