A fantastic picture book biography of the life and work of Justice Ketanji Jackson.
The book follows important events throughout Justice Jackson’s life from childhood, through her education, taking on various jobs, marriage, motherhood, and finally her becoming the the first Black woman on the U.S. Supreme Court.
Well-written with beautiful artwork. The text and illustrations compliment each other well. Informative and inspiring.
The backmatter contains an Author’s Note, a glossary of terms used in the book including words related to law and the legal system, a timeline of events in Justice Jackson’s life, a bibliography, and a list of further reading about other important people involved in the justice system.
Wonderful themes of working hard, being a good role model, and standing up for what you believe in. A fantastic biography the inspires readers to keep their light shining.
