Another powerful story from Abrams. After witnessing a classmate have to give his tray back when he can’t pay for lunch at school, Stacey decides to do something about it with the help of her friends and family. Even though public speaking makes Stacey uncomfortable, she knows using her voice is the right thing to do.
Great themes of overcoming fear, standing up for others, and creative thinking. I love the examples of ways kids can get involved and advocate for themselves and others. Stacey and her friends work within the system to create change by starting petitions and speaking to the school board.
As always, Thomas’ artwork is absolutely gorgeous. Their illustrations are magical and I love the way the kids shine as they speak out.
A wonderful story encouraging young readers to speak up when they see something wrong. I love this entire series. This one definitely made me tear up a bit.
