As far as a collection of tales about King Arthur, I think this one was a very good one for young readers. The stories are fairly simple and engaging.

As a person who doesn’t really like violence, the stories were not that interesting to me personally. I thought most of the knights were very silly and over-dramatic. This, of course, is not a critic of Lancelyn Green himself, but rather of the original stories. I also wanted the female characters to be more active. The evil ones are the only women who really do anything. Again, nothing against Lancelyn Green. That is the difficulty with retelling stories that are over a thousand years old; there is definitely a change in values.

I did really like this edition of the stories, because it includes information about the author, a breakdown of characters, history, and information on weaponry. These are all written in a way that is easy to understand and interesting.

This is a good read for young readers interested in classic adventure stories.
