I definitely did not know that The Pirate Pig and Ruffleclaw were two separate stories when I checked this audiobook out from the library. Not that it is a bad thing at all, but I spent the first half of The Pirate Pig waiting for Julie to meet someone named Ruffleclaw. It honestly wasn’t until I added the book to my Currently Reading list and glanced at a few reviews that I realized they were two separate things. Again, not a bad thing, but it’s just good to know from the get-go.

Thoughts on The Pirate Pig:

This is such a cute story. I loved the premise and all of the descriptions. Nicely done. And as always, Cornelia Funke does a great job reading the book in the audiobook. Her readings are so engaging and entertaining.

Thoughts on Ruffleclaw:

I was surprised by how much I liked this story. Plot-wise, not a whole lot happens. It is a pretty simple, straight-forward story, but Ruffleclaw is a strangely charismatic little monster and the descriptions in the story are phenomenal. I enjoyed the emphasis on friendship. A silly, fun story about a little boy and his monster.
