A fun guidebook for those who enjoyed The Lego Movie. This book is a “guide” on how to be awesome. The book is broken down into various parts such as “Having an Awesome Morning”, “Traveling Abroad”, and “Dealing with Tricky Situations”. It is a fun and entertaining book. This book has it all: jokes, tips, quizzes, quotes, creative assignments. Very engaging. The only thing I didn’t really like about the book was the pictures. As with many books based on the various Lego movies, this one uses still shots directly from the movie. This means that some of the pictures are fuzzy or blurry. Some of the pictures are also kind of small, making it hard to see. And there are a few pictures that are repeated multiple times in the book (Mrs. Scratchen-Post pages 25 and 88, Emmet’s jumping jacks pages 15 and 88, just to name a few). Small detail, but still kind of irksome. I will say that there are some pretty clever things in this book. My favorite was “Please do not finger-paint with glow-in-the-dark neon paint without a parent or adult’s permission. If you are a parent or adult, please ask your child for permission to use his or her glow-in-the-dark neon finger paint.” Hilarious. Overall, entertaining. Pictures could have been better, but its a nice read, especially for hesitant readers.
