This is one of those books that I’d been meaning to read for ages, but just hadn’t gotten around to. Then the miniseries came out and I caved and watched it before reading the book. Now here I am, having finally read the book and I loved it. I can definitely see how the plot can be confusing and things a bit muddled if you hadn’t seen the show before reading the book. Watching the show beforehand definitely made the book more straightforward. This is an intense story with a lot of characters and a ton of stuff going on. It’s pretty all over the place, but in the best of ways. There are very few changes between the miniseries and the book, which I’m honestly not surprised by because this book is perfection. Humorous, creative, adventurous, and complex in all the right ways. This was just such an amazing read. I don’t even know what else to say. Loved the concept, loved the characters, and love love loved that wonderful narration style. I adore reading Terry Pratchett and have enjoyed much of Gaiman’s work. Putting the two together has created an absolutely fantastic novel. Goodreads |
