| A nice book about a birthday surprise. This is a Stage 1 reader book recommended for preschool to first grade. The sentences are short and simple and there is a lot of repetition to aid beginning readers. I really liked that even though it is an early reader book, it actually tells a story. So many modern books are just descriptions of known characters rather than stories with actual plots. This one has a nice story. This book is also good for emotion identification as it has nice representations of simple emotions such as happy, sad, and surprised. It can also be used to work on prepositions like in, under, and behind. Nice illustrations and a cute ending. Goodreads |
