I will start by saying I only have a very basic knowledge of Lovecraft and Sherlock Holmes stories and have not read any of them (on my to-read list, I promise!). However, I was still able to enjoy this audiobook.

This short story is only about 50 minutes long, which was the perfect length for a recent car trip. I love Gaiman’s writing style. While this is very different from other things I have read by him, his characteristic wit and way with words still shine through. The story was very subtle and done in a very satisfying way. It allowed the reader to figure out how everything connected at the end without blatantly throwing the twists in their face.

I would say that those who do know Sherlock Holmes and Lovecraft well would probably enjoy this more than those of us who are not as familiar. From what I can tell, he seemed to capture the style well and provided a great experience. The audiobook is also narrated by Gaiman himself and he always just such a fantastic job in his readings. Hoping to read the full Fragile Things: Short Fictions and Wonders collection at some point.
