This is a great concise overview of whiskey, which covers a brief history, the basic process, tips for how to drink whiskey, and a guide for hosting a tasting. The majority of the book is dedicated to recipes which include appetizers, main dishes, desserts, and cocktails.

I assumed I would not be interested in the recipes because I’m a vegetarian. While there are many meat-based recipes, I was happy to find some very intriguing non-meat recipes as well. I have not made any of the recipes yet but am particularly interested in the Roasted Carrot and Bourbon Soup and the Whiskey-Spiked Cheese Fondue. Of course, all of the desserts sound amazing, especially the Salted Whisky Caramel Sauce and the Chocolate Whiskey Pound Cake with Whiskey Cream.

Interspersed throughout the book are quotes about bourbon and whiskey from a variety of people such as authors, singers, and actors. There are also simplistic illustrations that coincide nicely with the text.

Overall, a lovely book for those interested in learning about whiskey. The information covered is very basic so I would recommend it to those just getting into whiskey rather than those who are already rather knowledgeable. Works well as a gift book.
