Another enchanting tale from Kay O’Neill. I’ve loved everything I’ve read from them so I had to check out this children’s graphic novel. Wasn’t sure what to expect, but I enjoyed every page.
While the story is much simpler than her other tales, it’s perfect for young readers to read alone or with an adult. The book follows Dewdrop cheering on friends and building them up when they are feeling low. I loved the emphasis on helping others and being there with encouragement as well as the little lessons along the way.
As usual, the illustrations are perfection. Loved the color, detail, and the lovely world O’Neill created. Very fun and entertaining. The whole book was so heartwarming and enjoyable.
At the end of the book is a small note about conservation efforts and ways to help as well as a section on facts about the species that inspired the characters in the book.
An absolutely lovely read that takes the reader on an enjoyable journey to meet new underwater friends. It also teachers important lesson such as you don’t need to be the best, just try to do better than yesterday, that sometimes you have to relax before inspiration finds you, and that you can’t please everyone so do what makes you happy. A lovely book, beautiful and heartwarming.
