A book celebrating a love of theater and the journey to discovering what you want out of life. Much of the book centers around friendship, crushes, and the sometimes-blurry line between the two.

One aspect I enjoyed about the book is that while Callie loves theater, she’s not much of a performer, preferring stage crew instead. This was an interesting peek into the backstage process of putting on a show, especially when so many other stories have already explored many aspects of on-stage presence. It was cool to see some of what goes into creating a stage production. I also really liked how the book itself is set up as a play with an overture, multiple acts, an intermission, etc. It really tied together everything going on in the story.

Overall, a fun read that explores the complexity of middle school and navigating various relationships. As with any relationship, there are ups and downs along the way, but it was fun to partake on this journey with Callie and the other characters. An interesting read for young readers, especially those who enjoy theater and musicals.
