A cute story that shows how friendship transcends personality type. Peter and Ernesto are two very different sloths. Ernesto is curious and wants to find adventure. Peter is more reserved, but also kind and brave when someone needs help. The two sloths go on their own journeys and learn a lot along the way. Despite their differences, their similar interests and desire to share with each other strengthens their friendship.
The story was simple but fun. Cute illustration style. It was interesting to travel to different places with Ernesto as well as see Peter push himself outside his comfort zone. They both grow in their own ways.
My one critique is that I wish there were more (any?) female characters. As far as I can tell all the named characters were male (Dave, Louie, Murphy). There may have been some female characters in the background but they don’t get many speaking roles or personalities.
Despite the male emphasis, this was a nice little story setting up the series. Hoping to see more speaking roles for female animals in the rest of the books.
