An adorable follow up to the first book, depicting Bitty’s junior and senior year of college. It’s been a bit since I read the first book so it took a second for some of the details to come back to me. But I really enjoyed watching Bitty come into his own in this volume. He reaches quite a few milestones and it was so heartwarming to see his personal growth.
Filled with hockey, baking, romance, family disputes (that damn jam is dividing!), school stress, parties, and life changes. Because this is a webcomic, the story is more episodic than overarching, but there is a continuous story woven through as Bitty and Jack figure out their relationship, Bitty gets closer to graduating, and both teams progress in their leagues.
The comic medium works so well for this story. I just love the way Jack looks at Bitty. It gets me every time. Such a sweet story filled with so much warmth. These characters really come to life.
Ukazu also threw in some bonus comics at the end that give a glimpse into hockey culture. There’s also a few pages of tweets that run the length of the story, including the backstory to that family jam debacle!
An adorable story with characters that slam into your heart and bake their way through a lifetime of pies. Love this series so much.
