I wasn’t sure about this one going into it. The DC reboots have been hit or miss for me. But I ended up really enjoying it.
Princess Amaya is always up to something. But when her magical pranks go too far, her parents ground her to Earth. Her one-week punishment ends up lasting longer than expected. Now Gemworld is in trouble and Amy has no memory of her previous home. Can she really save a place she doesn’t even remember?
I didn’t know anything about Amethyst before reading this, but was instantly caught up in the story. I really enjoyed the character dynamics. Great themes of friendship, finding your place, and empathy with plenty of action, mystery, and humor to keep things interesting. Though the twists were a bit predicable, it was still a pleasant reading experience.
The artwork is stunning. I absolutely loved it. Fulmore brought Gemworld to life and it is breathtaking.
A fun read overall. Would love to see more of Amaya’s adventures.
