I picked this up from the library for a kid I work with. We read it and then she immediately wanted to act out the story so we went around picking imaginary apples. I think that counts as a success. Overall, nice book with good illustrations. This is a Step 1 book for preschool to kindergarten-aged readers. It uses easy words and picture clues to aid in reading. While this was a simple book, I think it had a good balance of simplicity and story. Some books are overly simplified where nothing happens and they are kind of boring. This book describes Barbie and her sister’s trip to pick apples. Good action words and example of problem solving and working together. I was a little disappointed that the characters are only ever pictured smiling, but it is a very positive book so I am not too surprised. I did like that it had all-female characters. Good book, especially for Barbie fans. Goodreads |
