This is actually a very good book adaptation of the Cars 3 movie. I am often disappointed with adaptations from movies because they have to be shortened so much and many times they don’t tell a story, they just introduce the characters or set up the story. This one perfectly sums up the plot of the movie in an entertaining way. It is a Step 3 book for grades 1-3 so some of the writing is a little choppy, but the plot is easy-to-follow and it is an engaging book for fans of Cars and Lightning McQueen.

I really enjoyed the illustrations as well, because they are actual pictures, not just shots taken directly from the movie (with the characteristic fuzziness). These are nice, clear pictures that are very well done.

Good book for young readers ready to read on their own.
