Since this book was labeled as “A Math Tale”, I was expecting a little more. There really isn’t much math involved. Yes, the elephant counts up to 8 and shows that the tower is the same height as he is, but that’s about it. The narration didn’t even focus on the subtraction of blocks when the tower fell. There are things parents can point out to their kids, but I think that is true with almost every book. The illustrations were interesting. They feature real-life block pictures with a little cartoon elephant added in. They were cute, although the contrast kind of threw me at first. Okay read. Maybe I would have liked it more if “Math” had not been such a salient feature in its advertising. It did not accurately describe the story in the book.
