Finally! A Curious George book where George doesn’t make a mess of everything (besides cluttering up the fire station a bit). I usually don’t like Curious George books very much, because George is usually inadvertently rewarded for messing things up. It drives me nuts.
Thankfully, this is actually a pretty good Curious George book. He helps solve a problem and doesn’t make a mess of everything.
I really liked that the book took the perspective that animal shelters are good places. In many movies (especially old movies where animal-hating dog catchers are always the bad guys), animal shelters are bad places. Today shelters do their best to help lost and stray animals. I really liked that the workers at the shelter are seen as doing good work instead of being cast as the villains.
Overall, good book.
