An interesting Disneyification of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. This version tones down some of the darker elements of the original such as Victor von Duckenstein making his creation out of cardboard and everyone surviving relatively unscathed. Victor is certainly more redeemable in this version.

This is the first book I’ve read in the Great Parodies series. I absolutely love Mary Shelley’s work so I thought this would be a nice place to start.

It’s a fun idea. The execution of this one was alright. Might be a nice introduction for children to the story of Frankenstein, though much of the nuance is lost if you don’t know the original story. I think it would be a bit scattered to read this without any previous exposure.

The artwork was nice but may be a bit busy and heavy for those looking for a more traditional Disney style.

Overall, a unique read that could foster an interest in the classics.
