A cute and funny book about making new friends, sharing, not judging others by their appearances/stereotypes, and trying new things. This is a very simple, but fun book. I liked that on the cover, it says “Word By Aaron Reynolds” instead of “words”. It’s a funny dedication to the details of the book considering it literally consists of only two different words.

The story is told through the pictures and intonation of the characters saying the word, “Dude”. This is an awesome book for teaching intonation and what various punctuation marks mean.

The pictures are also very details. I liked that the shark actually has scratches on his skin, which is very common, and you can see his multiple rows of teeth. Also, the shark wearing a pair of swimming trunks by sticking his tail into one leg was adorable. Nice touch.

Great book. Loved it. I’m always a sucker for books about sharks who aren’t the villain.
