I came across this in the clearance section of Half Price Books (with one of those horrible clearance stickers on it- see how to easy remove with this trick) and despite not knowing anything about it, I was instantly pulled to it and just had to take it home with me. Finally read it and it was everything I’d hoped it would be.
This is a fun book. I always love a good twist on fae stories (especially since so many old fae stories were actually very twisted) and a whole series dedicated to “bad” fae is very intriguing to me. The writing itself was fun, interesting, and simple. It was a great easy read that still kept the reader on their toes. I also really enjoyed the illustrations. Great way to break up the text and they paired perfectly with the narrative.
The characters were fun and interesting. I can’t help but love Flax. She’s just so cranky, sassy, and clever with all the worst intentions.
Hilarious spoof of an ending plus I love that things mostly work out for Flax. She tried so hard to make everything go wrong and you can’t help but root for her.
Fun book. I definitely want to find more in the series to see what else the cast of Little Horrors is up to.
