A fantastically told story of Dentler’s journey to becoming the first female wheelchair athlete to complete the Ironman World Championship. The book follows major events in Dentler’s life including her childhood in India, contracting polio, being adopted and living in America, pushing herself to do things independently, and competing in marathons and triathlons.
The artwork is beautiful. Gorgeous use of color. I especially enjoyed the montage scenes of Dentler training.
A great engaging story. I found it especially interesting learning about handcycles and racing wheelchairs and seeing how they’re used in races.
Great messages about persistence, practice, learning new things, and using failure to get better at something.
The backmatter includes a note from the author and information on polio, the Ironman World Championship, and adaptive racing equipment.
Well-written with stunning visuals and a heartfelt story. What a great read.
