Ham Helsing comes from a long line of daring vampire hunters. After his older brother dies in a tragic wingsuit accident, he takes up the family mantle and sets out to defeat a vampire. Along the way, he encounters a ninja pig, a were-boy, a robot knight, and many more interesting characters. Figure out who is friend and who is foe in this silly adventure.
I really thought I’d like this one. A Dracula retelling starring a socially anxious pig as Van Helsing seemed right up my alley. But the humor didn’t really work for me. It felt like it would work better as a show rather than a graphic novel. Okay characters, but I didn’t really connect with anyone. The story itself was a bit choppy and it was hard for me to get into.
Nice illustrations with plenty of action. I can see young readers enjoying it and it is a pretty quick read.
Okay read overall. Can see it working well for reluctant readers.
