A delectable read about finding the right cake to tell your story. Phil loves baking with his parents, but after their divorce, things are different. His favorite recipe doesn’t feel right anymore. After talking it out with his friend, inspiration strikes, and Phil creates something entirely new, a blending of his family’s favorite things.
I loved the positive representation of divorce. It shows that Phil’s mom still loves him and Phil’s dad still loves him, and they both spend quality time with him. The story serves as a beautiful symbol that change can be exciting and special. It doesn’t present the new situation as bad. It’s just different.
The illustrations are just as sweet as the story. The book also contains the recipe for Phil’s new creation.
A beautiful story about finding your way after a big change. Emphasizes imagination, talking out your problems, and accepting change. A fantastic read.
