Absolutely gorgeous. A beautiful celebration of heritage, family, nature, and the self.
Told through accessible, poetic language, Doyon paints beautiful images of memories and little moments of celebration and joy, from watching a river to tasting a caramel apple, jumping in leaf piles to the marvel of a family quilt.
Juanita’s artwork is wonderful. They bring Doyon’s words to life in a whole new way. Each page is gorgeous and show a variety of characters including those with vitiligo, different hair styles and textures, various skin tones, and those who use a wheelchair and have a service dog.
Works well for discussing poetic devices such as imagery and alliteration.
A wonderful read with a beautiful message.
