I was not familiar with this Laurie Berkner song before I found this book. I actually saw it at the library and checked it out without processing the fact it was a Laurie Berkner book. I read the book then listened to the song and overall, I enjoyed it.

This adorably illustrated book gives the song “Monster Boogie” more life, creating a cute, simple story to go along with the lyrics. The text in the book is word-for-word what the song is (unlike Pillowland which changes slightly), which is great for helping children learning to read to follow along with the song. Also a cute book for sing alongs.

Nothing can compare to We Are the Dinosaurs but this is still a pretty adorable book and a catchy song, sure to delight Laurie Berkner fans.
