A fun story sharing how the brain feels when it’s seeking different sensory input. Sometimes it is busy like a bee, wants to touch everything like an octopus, or is slow like a sloth.
I love that each state is presented without negativity. Instead the story celebrates all the ways the brain can be, how its needs can be met, and ways to calm it down when it feels overwhelmed.
Great perspective of recognizing and meeting sensory needs. Connecting each feeling to a different animal provides a great way to talk about different feelings in a way that is easy and engaging for young children.
Beautiful, energetic illustrations. They perfectly showcase the different emotions the narrator feels.
At the back are ideas for meeting children’s sensory needs, including movement, tactile input, and oral sensory input as well as calming exercises.
A beautiful, fun, and helpful book for talking about sensory needs and all the wonderful ways the brain can be.
