A fantastic tale of a young girl’s unique island life with her father and some unusual friends. Great blend of day-to-day descriptions of life on the island such as collecting food and taking measurements as well as adventurous turns like heavy storms and volcanic eruptions. A fun tale that was engaging and unique.

It was especially fun to see how Nim engaged with her animal friends and the various games she played with them. A very creative story filled with great characters, both human and animal.

Throughout the book, there are adorable drawings that pair well with the narration. Loved the Quentin Blake– style that still felt very unique to the book.

I really loved visiting the world Orr created in this book and am looking forward to traveling there again in the other books in the series.
