I actually really enjoyed this book. For starters, Olga is awesome. She loves animals (because humans are gross and horrible- I agree) and wants to be a scientist when she grows up. She accepts all the gross animal things (farts, pee) and isn’t too fazed by them. There are many humorous situations that arise from gross things like farts, so if that is not your thing, probably try something else. But let’s be real, farts are hilarious.
I really liked how Olga is not afraid to be herself, even when she gets made fun of for it. She is her own person. I also liked Olga’s aspirations to be a scientist. A great way to get kids interested in such fields as zoology, especially girls.
While this book was shelved in the graphic novels section of the library, it is really more of a chapter book with illustrations and speech bubbles. Not really a standard graphic novel although it does share some elements with the genre. Good intro for getting kids interested in graphic novel styles.
A very fun read. I enjoyed the story and characters. Will definitely be checking out the second book.
