Illustrated by Airin O’Callaghan

Perfection! I love this book so much. Beautiful illustrations. Catchy rhymes. All around positivity and great messages about body acceptance, differences, and celebrating all the ways bodies exist.

The text flows nicely with a great rhythm and a catchy rhyme scheme. A joy to read and it really sings when read aloud. The book presents various aspects of bodies without judgement, instead celebrating how they are each unique.

The illustrations are absolutely wonderful. Bright and cheerful with lovely use of color. Depicts various bodies and appearances including different heights, sizes, hair types and lengths, eye shapes and colors, and skin colors. There are people who use wheelchairs, wear hearing aids, use sign language, wear hijabs, have freckles, wear wigs, have tattoos, have prosthetic limbs, wear glasses, and wear an infusion set for an insulin pump. I love that the characters are all just going about their days, from playing basketball, skateboarding, dancing, and playing at the park to hanging out at the beach, doing nice things for family members, going to school, helping friends, and running errands. There is so much joy, acceptance, and love on each page.

Includes a wonderful note at the back about the importance of talking respectfully about appearance and answering questions in order to avoid misinformation. Also includes a few suggested scripts for answering children’s questions and a link for more resources to address the topic as children get older.

A wonderful read aloud. Such a fantastic book.
