A nice intro for young readers on why plastics are a problem and how to get more involved. Loved the push for changing local habits and fighting for large-scale solutions.

This book offers a very basic look at the issues surrounding plastics, making it a good starting point. The small size makes it less intimidating and a fairly quick read. Testa also ties the information in to her own life experiences, showing what motivated her to get involved. The book covers the shortcomings of recycling, the general lifecycle of plastics, the ways plastics are beneficial, and how the overuse of them is harmful.

At the end of the book are a few ways readers can reduce the plastics in their own lives. They are blanket suggestions without specific considerations for access and accessibility, so it’s up to the reader to decide what works for them.

There is also a section at the end about various other young activists and innovators who focus on plastic pollution and environmental issues.

A nice way to inform, inspire, and motivate young readers.
