I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I’m not much of fan of fake dating stories, but this one managed to do it without being creepy and added a nice twist.

After a rough breakup with her toxic ex-girlfriend, Margot just wants a nice holiday. She gets her chance when Ben invites her to pose as his girlfriend at his family’s manor. It’s the perfect plan until some unexpected circumstances turn the whole arrangement upside-down.

There are so many interesting relationship dynamics in this book. The pressures of family expectations, moving on from a toxic relationship, rekindling old flames, and forming new relationships. This is so much more than a fake dating story. It’s about family, friendship, open communication, and chasing happiness.

Has some great messages about recognizing toxic relationships and seeking support systems. This added a great element of realness to the book that really took it to the next level for me. It’s not just a cute, sapphic romance but also offers understanding and encouragement in dealing with some of the hardships in various relationships, from parents to siblings to romantic partners.

Such a sweet story. Nice combo of cozy and encouragement. Perfect for a cute, Christmas-y romcom with a dose of hard truths.
