A beautiful celebration and history of Emancipation Park.

Told from the perspective of the park itself, the book follows the park’s founding in 1872, its vital role in the community especially during the time of Jim Crow laws, its years of disrepair, and its eventual revitalization.

A wonderful celebration of the different roles the park has filled, providing a place for people to fight for their rights, picnic with family, celebrate freedom, and give thanks.

Wonderfully written. Lyrical and powerful.

The artwork is stunning. I loved its emphasis on nature, community, history, and remembering.

Includes a note at the end that details the park’s history.

With themes of community, equal rights, celebration, and remembering, this is a fantastic homage to Emancipation Park, its role in its community, and what it represents.
