I was a little disappointed that the Bugs didn’t really receive anything in return for their work. They could have at least been invited to the party. Instead they are presented as creatures that “love to work hard”, which has an ominous shadow of justifying slavery because slaves “liked” the work. Obviously reading too much into a children’s book here, but I really think the give-and-take was missing in this transaction.

The pictures were good and the words were simple for beginning readers. There is also a nice amount of opposite words (in, out, messy) to help teach concepts. Overall, a good book for fans of Trolls.
