I absolutely loved this show as a kid. I had no idea there were novelizations. This book adapts the episodes “You’re So Vain” and “The Substitute”. In the first, Angela Anaconda gets some unexpected attention after her poetry assignment is misinterpreted. Then Angela finds inspiration for her rainforest project with a substitute teacher and starts thinking school isn’t so bad… until Mrs. Brinks inevitably returns.

It was nice revisiting the characters and I ended up watching a few episodes of the show after reading this. Still such an odd and entertaining show.

Overall, the book was nicely written. There is quite a bit of name-calling and bullying as Angela and Nanette play out their feud. Angela’s imagination sequences are definitely more fun visually than told through text.

But overall it was a fun read.
