An interesting read with a wonderful message. When lighting strikes the Anne Frank House, Kitty, Anne Frank’s diary, comes to life. Not realizing how much time has passed, Kitty sets out to find her friend. Slowly, Kitty learns what happened to Anne, taking inspiration from her legacy to do what she can to help others.
The artwork in this book is absolute perfection. Beautiful movement and color. I loved the character designs and the visual representation of Kitty’s connection to the diary. Absolutely wonderful.
An interesting blend of fact and fiction. I liked the way the fictional story was used to talk about events from Anne Frank’s real life. Connecting past atrocities to more recent wars and displacement, the book encourages readers to see good in the world and help others.
While the pacing was a bit jumpy, I enjoyed it overall. This definitely makes me want to read Folman’s Anne Frank’s Diary: The Graphic Novel and watch the film version of this story.
